To design a capture filter

1. Open Network Monitor.
2. If prompted, select the local network from which you want to capture data by default.
3. On the Capture menu, click Filter.
4. In the Capture Filter dialog box, do the following:
• Specify capture filter protocols.
• Specify address pairs in a capture filter.
• Specify frame data patterns to capture.

• Specify capture criteria to identify the frames that you want to capture on the network.
• Build a complete capture filter expression by specifying the protocols, address pairs, and data patterns of the frames that you want to include or exclude from the capture.
